Having linked up with MLS side Inter Miami in the summer of 2023, eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi is now enjoying a well-earned break during the American off season. He has headed home as a result, with a private jet taking the Argentine icon, his wife Antonela and their three children back to South America from Florida.

According to , Messi has a busy schedule lined up for his stint in Argentina. First on the agenda is the wedding of Carla Roccuzzo – Antonela’s younger sister, who was one of the bridesmaids when Messi tied the knot in Rosario back in June 2017.

Messi is also reportedly due to meet up with national team coach Scaloni. They savoured World Cup success together at Qatar 2022 and have important matters to discuss as questions are asked of their respective futures in international football – with Messi yet to decide whether he will compete at the 2026 World Cup.

A return to the United States will be made in the New Year, well in time for the start of pre-season training. Inter Miami have lined up a number of friendly dates – including a meeting with Messi’s first club Newell’s Old Boys and his eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who is now at Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr. Messi is determined to land more major honours in 2024 having already savoured Leagues Cup success in America.
