Southampton Football Club announced on their official Twitter account on Friday that manager Mauricio Pellegrino’s pre-match Stoke City press conference had been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions caused by heavy snowfall, and Saints fans were quick to react.
The south coast outfit are due to face the Potters in a huge relegation six-pointer at home on Saturday, with Pellegrino’s side only lying outside of the drop zone on goal difference following their 1-1 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor last weekend.
The Argentine boss isn’t a popular figure with the St Mary’s faithful right now because of the club’s position in the Premier League table and the below-par performances on the pitch, and the clash against Paul Lambert’s men is must-win really considering three away matches in a row after they face Stoke.
Southampton supporters took to social media to have their say on the club announcement, and while one said “just use one of the previous press conferences, he says the same crap every week”, another said “how about cancelling Pellegrino’s contract instead?”
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
