We’ve heard it all before, haven’t we? The Premier League and it’s sub-standard refereeing and the problems they subsequently cause.
There is so much at stake in the game these days that there is little room for error but today Bobby Madley’s performance in the 3-3 draw between Bournemouth and West Ham will go down as one of the worst in many years.
In the first-half Madley deemed Simon Francis’ kick to the face of Cheikhou Kouyate worthy of just a yellow card, even though it was obviously a dangerous challenge and deserved a red at the very least, and then he overturned his assistant’s decision when Callum Wilson was judged to have been offside when Bournemouth levelled at 3-3 in injury time.
It was quite clearly offside and that is how his assistant saw it, but Madley seemingly felt as though he wanted to make the game all about him and overruled it, handing Bournemouth a crucial point in a relegation scrap and costing the Hammers two precious points in their bid to steer clear of the bottom three.
It was a disgraceful performance from a referee and here’s how the West Ham fans reacted on Twitter…
